Conrad Painting was challenged by this project in many ways including having to maintain full vehicular and marine traffic, during the areas busiest time of year as well as protecting the area from contamination from the removal of the lead paint system. The lead paint from this project had the highest concentration of lead of any project that we had encountered to date. The bridge structure also required approximately 180 square meters of concrete to be removed from the underside of the concrete deck and replaced with shotcrete. After the completion of the above a three coat paint system was applied.
Conrad Painting was very happy to be the low bidder on this project as we were up against very stiff non-union competition that relies on this type of work as the majority of their work. We were also happy to be able to show this industry and Owner that we were still very competitive as well as very capable of providing them with a finished product that met schedule and coating conditions.
